Q. What proof is there that Smenkhare and Akhenaten were
lovers?
A. I've read this in a few places. Here are a few
online:
Some people think this because there is some confusion between
Smenkhare and Nefertiti in inscriptions and reliefs. Another theory
is that Smenkhare is Nefertiti.
Q. What got you interested in Amarna?
A. Well, thanks for your interest. It probably
started with a childhood fascination with the gold and glitter
of Tut's treasures. Then, at some point, I decided to build
an Egyptian city online. The choice of city was somewhat
arbitrary and probably due to my mom. This website grew out of
that. But actually, I'm a pure math major. For more, see About
this Site.
Q. I'm doing a research project on Amarna. Can you recommend
some books or generally help me out?
A. Two places to look: My For
Students page and my References
page. Meanwhile there are other books listed in the Recommended
Books.
Q. Can I reference your information? What are your references?
A. It usually isn't good to reference the internet
in a research paper. See my References
page, and my For Students page.
But I should point out that my information is an accumulated understanding
from a variety of reading, and most of the facts are generally
accepted. Write me
if you're curious about a particular one (except Smenkhare
- see above).
Q. Can you give me a link in your site?
A. Sure, if it is about Amarna in particular, not
just Egypt in general (there are way too many Ancient Egypt sites
to even try to make a list). Email
me.
