Web Links - Amarna Royalty

A Subsection of the Amarna Web Links

See also Web Links: Akhenaten and Nefertiti.

The Amarna Royalty as a whole:

This nice site has information about Royalty of the 18th dynasty, many links to outside information, and a reading list.  Still the authoritative resource for Amarna Royalty.

This site contains a link to a list of the big shots, but I've also included Akhenaten's and Nefertiti's listings from here below.  The amazing thing is the number of lesser-known figures from all periods of history that can be found here.

As much information about each of the Royal Princesses as you are likely to find on the web.  Also quite a lot of information about Smenkhare.

Which mummy is which is sometimes a little controversial!

This site contains information about each of the royalty.

This is a promising new site that will deal with some lesser known personalities of the Amarna Period.

Royal Lineage (always a controversial topic):

See our other links about the Pharaoh Akhenaten and the Queen Nefertiti.

Below are some links to pages dealing with lesser members of the royalty or the Amarna period. Don't forget to visit the sites above in "The Royal Family as a whole" where there will also be information about these people.

Amenhotep III:

Meritaten:

Is Meritaten Tutankhamun's Mother?

Akhesenamun / Akhesenpaaten:

Fanciful visit to the tomb of Akhesenamun, daughter of Akhenaten and Nefertiti, to learn about her and her family's history.

An interesting article which involves the identity of Akhesenpaaten.

A new article by Marianne Luban, subtitled "A Re-Assessment of the Role of Akhesenamun.

Very nice page with lots of information.

Smenkhkare:

Some isolated information.

See also our FAQ for information about Smenkhare.

Tutankhamon / Tutankhaten:

Tutankhamon reigned shortly after Akhenaten and reverted the state religion to its previous state.  This site is a pleasure to navigate, but it is only one of many on the web, which I've decided not to try to document fully.

  • King Tutakhamun (from Guardian's Egypt)
  • Includes great links and pictures, a good place to start.

  • Hatshepsut's Revenge

Horemheb:

Queen Tiye:

Very nice page with lots of information.

See also the web links about KV55.

Aye:

Kiya:

See also the web links about KV55.

Other Court Officials Etcetera:

Ramose was Vizier of Akhenaten in the early part of his reign.

This is a promising new site that will deal with some lesser known personalities of the Amarna Period.

  • The Yuya and Thuyu Museum

What do we know about Tiye's parents?

For Vizier Nakht's house, see Links: Akhet-Aten
